Frequently Asked Questions
Critter Guard FAQ
What is critter guard and what are the benefits?
-
Critter guard is a mesh covering that goes around the perimeter of each solar panel array. This covering effectively keeps squirrels, other wildlife, and leaf buildup away from the underneath the solar system.
-
Over time leaves and nest build up can create fires especially during the summer heat, but with the guards there are little to no chances of fires.
-
Squirrels and raccoons chew wires that require replacing a solar panel, but with the guards your solar panels are protected
What are the different types of critter guards?
-
The sola trim is all-weather, long lasting Pest and Debris abatement system made of all-weather aluminum barrier. The system allows air to circulate underneath the solar panels, maintaining a protected area between the roof surface and the bottom of the solar panels. Modern adhesive technology now allows for permanent peel-and-stick bonding without the use of rivets, screws or other mechanical fasteners. We also add other materials such as zip ties and fasteners.
-
The mesh guard is made of steel and coated in black PVC to ensure strong resistance to weather and rust with Stainless Steel Fasteners and we had zip ties to make the critter guard more robust and secure. The finer mesh has a 1/2'' opening which is the perfect size to keep critters out but still allow wind and water flow from your roof. Strong welding ensures solidity. These critters can't break in.
Solar Panel Cleaning FAQ
Why clean my solar panels and how often?

-
A research study from Duke University state "We found that only a few weeks of buildup was sufficient to block much of the sunlight from reaching the panels. After cleaning, the study's solar panels saw a 50 percent jump in efficiency"(Thompson 23).
-
The dirtier solar panels get the less efficient energy can be restored. Solar panels need to be cleaned 4 times a year to avoid build up over time.
-
Pollen from plants and dust from construction create a think layer of dirt build up on the panels.
What do you clean the solar panels with?
-
Soft brittle brush
-
Filtered Water system that prevents mineral build up after cleaning and makes your panels last longer.
-
Concentrated solar panel glass cleaner, which restores photovoltaic efficiency, softens water to reduce dirt re-deposition, biodegradable, and environmentally friendly.
How much efficiency will I get after my solar panels are cleaned?
-
You can expect to receive between 20%-80% more solar efficiency after the cleaning based on the suns output that week.
Solar Electrical FAQ
How to tell if your solar system isn't working?
-
Check your solar monitoring to see if your system is producing. Next check your inverter, if there is a green light it means your system is working. If you do not have a green light then check the meter with the city. And the easiest way is for us to come out and check your system.
Do you see an error code on your inverter, what should you do?
-
Call us today and we will come out to troubleshoot your system.
What type of system do we work with?
-
We work with all types of solar systems to help you in the best way possible.
